Art as Medicine
The work I do lives at the intersection of creativity, curiosity, and well-being.
What I’ve come to understand, both personally and through working with others, whether through coaching, workshops, or retreats, is that art is not only about talent… it’s about access.
Access to calm, to memory, to emotion, and to parts of ourselves that don’t always come through words.
Art as medicine doesn’t mean replacing medical care. It means using creative process as a support for the nervous system, emotional processing, and overall well-being.
Watercolor is a beautiful medium for this work because it invites letting go.
You cannot fully control it → builds acceptance
It responds to water → mirrors emotional flow
It rewards softness, not force,
Watercolor teaches us to collaborate instead of control..
Research in neuroscience and art therapy shows that when we engage in creative activity, especially repetitive, sensory-rich processes, the brain shifts out of a stress-driven state and into a more regulated one.
Working with a fluid medium like watercolor naturally encourages slower movement, softer focus, and rhythmic breathing, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s “rest and restore” mode.
Studies have also shown decreases in cortisol levels (stress hormone) during art-making, along with increased activity in areas of the brain associated with attention, emotion regulation, and well-being.
In simple terms, the body reads this kind of creative engagement as safe, and begins to settle accordingly.
An Invitation for a different kind of Saturday. June 27 - 1pm est

There’s a quieter way to reset… and it doesn’t require more effort, just a little space.
On Saturday, June 27, I’m hosting a live watercolor experience designed to support your nervous system, soften mental noise, and reconnect you to yourself through color and presence.
This is not about being an artist. It’s about allowing art to be medicine.
